REMICADE USERS..COST?

OK,   I know the cost of one Remicade is expensive,,,  I do believe I read on here

that it can be up to $13,000  per each infusion.   Is that still right?  If you need six a year,  that adds up to $78,000 a year.  Is that what they charge the insurance companies,,,or an individual who doesn't have insurance.

My son had to go on the PAP program because he cannot buy insurance and in no way could afford these costly infusions.  But the PAP program is helping him, and he gets them with their help.   But,,,I was just curious how much it would cost someone who

doens't qualify due to their income level. (make to much)                                             Would they still have to pay the full amount?   Thanks for the input.

 

 

Thanks Judy,,, I called a Canadian Pharmacy, just for fun, and found out that to buy it directly from then,,, 1 vial of Remicade would cost about $675. each, If you need 5 vials. that would cost about $3,375 plus cost of infusing it. I'm wondering why so much cheaper?

Funny, I just posted these numbers on another thread, but the local infusion center will bill around 4k for my daughter's 5 vials (10mg per kilo). They get reimbursed for about that amount, I am not responsible for the difference. The U of C Hospital where we currently have a doctor is (drum roll here)... $15,700 for the same amount. That is called too darn big overhead. It does include a doc's sign-off/visit. They would bill that amount to a person without insurance, unless you negotiated something else with them The insurance only reimburses them about the same as the infusion center---about 4k, give or take. Some crazy system we have here---they are only a few zip codes apart in IL. This is with ta BC/BS, PPO plan.
