I know we've discussed this to some extent elsewhere, but I am fascinated by those of us who have certain times of year during which we flare. Sometimes I'll flare as a result of a virus or cold, but for the most part, I've flared late summer and then again midwinter. Could we make a whole thread of "times of year"?

My son has flared every single summer starting the summer of 2000 except the summer of 2008. 2003's flare actually began in spring, but lasted through half the summer and summer '06 flare lasted straight through to summer 2007.
My daughter hasn't really shown a pattern...yet. Before she was dx I seem to remember she always seemed to have blood/mucus in her stool around Christmas and we wondered if it was the extra goodies she ate around that time.

Christmas...mostly because I'm usually sick at that time from being so terribly busy..not to add the stress of that time of year as well.

Mine have always started in late spring.

Late spring and early fall is usually the time for me. I don't know why to tell the truth. I have a suspicion though that it relates to allergies. At least for me, my allergies are worse in the spring and fall.

So far, I have flared every year around Christmas. Not sure if it is because of the stress of the season or the bitter cold or both (my guess is both...because the cold really puts a stress on my body...I hate cold weather). I feel the best in summertime.

Like Sherry, late spring and early fall. I believe it is allergy related too. There is a lot of asthma in my family, psoriasis too.

For me, all my flares started right after the weather changed (around this time of the year) and my body got too cold. In general, my body has trouble retaining heat, and it doesn't do as well when it gets too cold. I think getting too cold is a trigger for me. The bacteria in my colon may be imbalanced, but it is not until my body gets too cold that my body won't be able to handle it and my colon will get inflamed.
My colon has never been inflamed during the warm, summer months.
I'm being really careful right now, wearing extra layers and drinking ginger teas to warm up my body.

My flares tend to start up towards the end of spring beginning of summer.

I seem to do better in 50-75 degree (F.) weather. The cold & dark days of late fall & winter wear me down. Then I may do myself in by gobbling Valentine's Day chocolate because I tend to flare by March. Apparently I need a Golden Mean with regard to weather, diet, & daily activity. Too much cold/heat, spices, desserts, roughage, deadlines, meetings, and/or housekeeping tend to rev up my UC. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
