I have been taking this medication for colon spasms for years. I take it when my left side feels distended and uncomfortable and it only takes about a half an hour to work and the pain
is gone. Nothing else works and I have no other side effects from this medication.

I just switched to a new GI and he said he can not prescribe Belladonna (not will not, but can not) because it has an opiate and he can't prescribe anything that requires a triplicate prescription.
What? My old doctor used to call it in to the pharmacy? Has anyone else had this response or problem?

Yes, I had that problem with Diazapam. My old primary knew that this was the only med that stopped my body spasms whether it was hip or colon; we had tried many other meds which gave me terrible side effects. The Diazapam gave me none...and then I had to switch to another primary and he doesn't want to give them to me because they are addictive. I've had this same prescription for years...and I tried explaining that I don't take them everyday; sometimes I go a month or so without having to take them! So I'm definitely not addicted! I'm not sure where to steer you at this point but I wanted to tell you I know exactly how you feel. I want to tell my knew primary that hey...I have been down the med road...please just give me what works for me!!!!

It's probably not a high enough dose to work for you, but Teething Tablets have belladonna in them. I giggled when I saw the package, because the front says something about them being "all natural" (thus indicating they are safe), and they have a product that can be fatal if ingested in a high dose!

Well I don't suppose the plant is anymore hazardous than what we have in pharmaceutical form really...It's natural poison over manufactored.

I wasn't saying that the belladonna is more dangerous than anything that chemical....I was just saying that the packaging implied that it was safe because it's all-natural, which certainly isn't the case. I could see a lot of parents using more than the recommended amount because they'd think it was safe due to being all-natural.
