Doctor Recommendation - MN or Nearby

Adult or pediatric? I see an amazing peds GI at MN gastro. He's freakin' amazing, Dr. Wiechmann. I haven't been sent to an adult GI yet but my cousin's husband sees Dr. Vargo and my mom has seen Dr. Rettig, both are at the Maplewood office

There you can read bios about the doctors and it shows the locations of the offices. I like the bios because sometimes it mentions if they have an interest in IBDs. That will help me choose an adult GI when I'm ready to because that says to me that they know more about IBDs than some others would.

You could also look into Mayo if you're in Southeastern MN.

Since I found out I had UC 15 months ago, I have seen several doctors. I currently use Dr. Stone at the Eagan Clinic of MNGI. The primary person I see is Chris Romine which is the Physicians Asst at this location. He has been great because as good as the doctors are at this clinic he is better. I have had 1 hour sessions where he has taken the time to answer all my questions with no rush. They also have a pretty good support group with the nurses I have spent a lot of time on the phone with the nurses asking questions and getting responses hours later. During my time in the hospital over the last year I have also had appts with Dr. Levine and Dr. Rudolph. They have all been great to work with and always take the time to answer your questions. KStatephan, what a coincidence...I also go to the MNGI Eagan clinic and mainly see Romine (PA).  Rudolph (MD) did the flex sig earlier this year and have talked to him on the phone once since.  Chris is great and really takes the time to listen and even is more than willing to give out some free samples to try (if they have them in stock) when switching/starting new meds.  Also, my healthpartners clinic doctor told me that MNGI has the best GI doctors/staff.

Thanks everyone. I have made an appointment at Mayo to see Dr Tremaine. But I've got Dr Stone on my list now for the future if needed. i could also use that support group.

Old Hat. I couldn't remember her name when I typed out my earlier response, but Dr. Kane is who I saw at Mayo. Yes she was very good and thorough. She also had two Dr's that were working with her that day. They were both on sabbatical from there clinics, one in LA the other was from Delaware, to work with her for a month.
