Anybody? I have had this off and on along with bleeding between my periods. :(

Are you on pred? Maybe you should go to your doctor, probably your GP or OBGYN... I wouldn't say it's UC but I hear pred can mess with your period. I don't know in what way though.

Painful urination is usually a sign of an infection. Are you on birth control?

I am on Pred right now, but I have had the pain in the past and tested negative for infection, that's why I wondered if it could in any way be UC related. My OBGYN couldn't figure out why I'm having irregular bleeding either, which also made me wonder if in some way that is related. Not on birth control & have never had issues like this.

Yes. You could have a bladder infection. You should see a doctor. If untreated, bladder infections can spread to the kidneys. I get bladder infections easy; so I now take cranberry supplements. Cranberry juice is also good if juice doesn't bother your UC.

you could have bladder inflammation such as with interstitial cystitis....which can in fact come with UC (because it's an autoimmune disease).

Please get referred to a Urologist asap and get checked out. He/she will probably do a cystoscopy (bladder scope).

Don't wait....been there, done that, but after the bladder scope, all was well, interestingly.

Is it a burning sensation? If so it's likely UTI or bladder infection. I have very dull, very painful sensations during urination but it's due to endomitriosis and not the UC. Whenever I feel that sort of pain I know I have a cyst forming and to get to the doctor. Not saying that could be causing your pain but it's definitely something you want to share with your doctor and have them check out.

Irregular bleeding isn't so uncommon. How old are you (if you don't mind me asking)?

I sometimes get pain during urination if my cramps are bad, but the sensation is more pressure than actual pain due to the tightness of all the muscle in that area (I get monster cramps, especially if I'm not on BC).

You may want to get double checked for an infection, if it's negative I agree with quincy, it could be cystitis (essentially bladder irritation) causing it, I've had an episode or two of it myself.

I'm a male and have been having some symptoms of irritating urination, and frequency, I got tested for all stds. and a urine analysis, all neg. I just got out of a flare up, but noticed in the past three days I am having a bit of blood when I wipe, this is how the last flare started, I wonder if the flare affects men in the prostate? I'm going to get tested for a yeast infection as well, because I have been sexually active in the past two months. and thats the only thing I haven't ruled out, but I can't help but wonder if It could be my body attacking itself, I already have costochondritis, and UC. go figure. I'm suprised my skin doesn't try and peel itself off and die. good grief!

I think Im in the same boat as you!
I often feel like I have a UTI every so often, but Ive been tested and its been negative. What my GI told me is that because the lower part of my colon is so swollen it pushes against my bladder wall which makes it feel similar to a bladder infection (ie, burning, feeling like I always have to go, uncomfy, etc).
I too, have bleeding between periods sometimes. I also got checked for this and they couldnt give me any answers either. The only thing they could chalk it up to was that it could be my BCP interacting with all my other meds.. but they wernt sure...
just wanted you to know your not the only one out there! :)
