Even though I've had this disease almost 7 years, I haven't really compared myself to others too much. I was wondering what "normal" feels like to you, as in when you are in remission? How many times a day do you use the restroom? It seems like even when I'm feeling good, I still hit the pot a few times a day. It seems like my body just uses less of the food I eat than a person without UC. Is that normal?

I'm in remission and I go from 1-4 times a day, depending on what I ate the day before. I don't base my remission on how many times I go but rather how good I feel. Everyone, including healthy people, have a wide array of how many times they actually go. My husband, who does not have Uc, goes about
3 times a day.

I haven't been in remission since I started developing symptoms, but normal to me before UC was 1-2 a day. I was never a person to go a day between or anything

I ususally go once in the morning. every now and then I will go 2x in the morning. I have days once in a while where I will go 2x in the morning and once in the afternoon.

I go several times a morning but that's because I don't like sitting on the pot too long. I'd like to think that normal BMs should only come one time a day, mornings best...

I go 1-2 times a day, and they are always after breakfast or after dinner. I *rarely* have a BM outside of those two times...if I do, it's because I've eaten something exceptionally high in fiber in the previous days. If I'm traveling, I get a bit backed up...it's like my colon is shy about
a new potty or something.

When I am in remission, I typically only go once per day (occasionally twice). I find it has mainly to do with stress and diet. When I start having UC flair ups, I do the following:
Switch to Skim Lactose free milk
Eat Rice Chex (any flavor)
Avoid all fatty foods
Avoid Chocolate
Avoid chips and snack food
Avoid fresh fruit and veggies
Avoid high fiber
Avoid eggs and bananas
Avoid Taco Bell
Take Xanax for stress
Take Asacol, Canasa, 6MP and probotics

Everyone I know without UC goes at most once per day. In remission I go 3 times in the morning within a 1-2 hour period and that's it (that's as good as it gets for me now). I have a lot of scarring in my colon from all the flares so, even in remission, certain foods (raw vegetables) do not digest fully.

When in remission - once a day or sometimes once every other day...

Before UC/IBS/lactose intolerance I would go once a day. Now that I have UC and am in remission I go anywhere from 0 to 4 times a day with no cramping, urgency etc. There's no consistency to it either. I just go when I go.
