Skipped Meds Feel Great??? Confused

Hey All, I have been feeling better during the day then do my Rowasa at night then feel gassy and bloated and crampy all night and most of the next day. I also have a bit of lower left side pain while going #2 so i know i am not in remision. I missed my Rowasa last night and I woke up full of energy and no gas and feeling good and a normal BM ? I see my doc in 2 days i have been doing these things for almost 7 weeks. I called him he said the lower left pain is maybe a Kindney and call my regular doc?? I thought lower left pain was a normal symptom of UC? I am left sided UC also so it seemed normal to hurt there. I am thinking of going to every other night? Your opions please i do not want to go back into major flare i have not had blood or major D for almost 3 weeks. The only thing i am dealing with now seems to be the lower left pain a bit of mucas and weight loss and feeling weak & tired alot.                                                                            Thanks, YankeeKat.

does the pain come from your lower left front or back

rowasa enemas were tough on me too--i never really benfited

what meds and other have you tried

Lower left front only never had any back pain on either side. I am only on the Rowasa no other meds tried canasa but i am 12 inches up it stopped the bleeding but the doc put me on rowasa and it was alot better fast. It did take a few weeks for them to kick in but when they did it was great the lower left pain is kinda new even when i was in major flare i never has the pain on the left? I know seems odd compaired to what others go through.

I can usually tell kidney pain apart from other. If my kidneys felt fine and I felt hydrated and was urinating okay then I would not think I had a kidney problem. Did you talk to your GI directly or a nurse?

My GI just over the phone and he just told me call my family Doc. ? I know a bit odd?

I don't know if it applies to what you are using, but I said many times on this board I was using Asacol and then Colazal and they kept me bleeding like a pig until I stopped taking them. I end up taking very low dosage of sulfasalazine, still not sure if it helps or hurts but doing a lot better than I was on the more popular drugs. I seriously think them drugs hurt as many people as they maybe help.

I did try Asacol but got sick to the stomach so the Doc. told me weeks ago just try the Rowasa and see if that worked on it's own and it seems to have worked till this recent pain though.

well i can't really give advice... but if it was me i'd stay at every 2nd night for a week and see if the pattern(of only feeling bad after taking the enema) continues... Probably shouldn't try to draw conclusions from a single incident...

I tried all mesalamine medications including Rowasa enemas and they eventually made me worse.  Started out helping and downhill from there.  The rectal steroid meds work for me but I will never do the mesalamines again.

5ASA enemas have given me torture in the past too - stomach pain, diarrhea, all kinds of discomfort. But they squelched the inflammation over time in spite of the side effects.

I've had a rough time with rowasa (generic, which might make a difference), too.  I've been waiting to give them a shot once again, but last time I used them, I could barely hold them for 10 minutes.  Cramps, gas, urgency, etc.

I get left sided pain around the waist and a little below that I'm sure is UC related.

Aren't kidneys and the pain from infection more above the waist?  I've never had one that I know of so I'm not sure.
