anyone else cramp w. Rowasa?

Just wondering if ayy of you get intense cramping with rowasa taht last 5-10 min.  That has made me never take it consistantly.

I don't know if "cramp" is the word but sometimes I do feel some pretty uncomfortable gut sensations right after putting an enema in. Usually it resolves and/or I go to sleep!

Good luck working it out. All these little side-symptoms are just add-on misery, aren't they?

Yes, I get cramps.  I hate using it and even though I've tried it off and on for 2 years I still can't tell if it helps or causes my symptoms to be worse. 

Still, I'm going to try again for a couple of weeks.  It seems so logical and easy, if they actually will work. 

Hydrocortisone enemas, on the other hand, rarely do that to me.  Unfortunately I worry about using them too long and causing damage (thinning)  to my colon.  After all, in the 2 years since my diagnosis, I went from very mild left sided to "considerably worsened" pancolitis.  Maybe it's the mesalamines, who knows.  The only time I quit using them, after a month or so, I flared horribly. 

 

Ok, my experience with Rowasa and steroid enemas, foam, suppositories, etc.  First of all Rowasa after a couple days my symptoms got much worse so I had to stop them.  I think I used them like 5 days once.  Any enema I tried I had to be sure all air was out of the container first - that helps.  Laying still on left side and just bearing any cramping would go away after about 10 minutes and I could hold them all night.

I love the suppositories (Anusol now) and the Cortifoam.  No problem using them or keeping them in or anything.  BUT - I am sure if you can use the enemas they work better and up further.  Oh, by the way, doctor told me to start with small amount - like 1/3 especially when colon is swollen and inflammed a lot.  I don't know about keeping the rest or using it later in day maybe.  I have my prescriptions paid for so I just threw it out.
