Big Feast Planned today...no appetite.

Me and the boy have been planning a big multicourse dinner for valentine's day for a few weeks. I've been really excited.

However, the past couple of days I've had a practically nonexistant appetite due to this flare.

I really want to be able to eat everything, but right now the thought of eating is just turning me off. And I'm terrified of the pink champagne I bought.

I also don't know how up I'm gonna be for being romantic. I want to be, but at the same time I don't have the desire to do anything but lay in bed.

Stupid disease, ruining everything good about my life.

I know exactly how you feel. I am in a flare right now, and all I feel like doing is lying in bed well that's inbetween sitting on the toilet!!

I have been with my husband 15 years tomorrow and he wants to celebrate, and of course I do aswell but I can't eat much without feeling really uncomfortable, then I usually need the toilet again after I've eaten, so not good for getting in a romantic mood! So I decided to cook something special at home, so we can both relax and I don't have the worry of having a small appetite.

I am probably getting surgery this year, hopefully that will make my life relatively normal again!

Me too. My husband and I had a date planned sans child for this evening and we had to cancel it. :o(

Could you take Immodium maybe, like a one-time thing?

I don't have immodium in the house...also, it's less of a run to the bathroom thing with the food, and more of an I don't feel like eating thing.

Anyway, I ended up just having smaller portions. We still haven't had dessert yet, but this has been my food intake of the day (plus the yogurt I had for breakfast). I just hope I don't feel like butt tomorrow.

I feel your pain, My wife and I went out tonight to a really nice place in atlanta and i had no appetite. The worse part was after spending a small fortune i could not make it home without stopping at a mcdonalds to hit the bathroom.

Hey everyone, i know this post is past already, but wanted to put this out here.

I suffered severe lack of appetite from multiple surgeries. I lost alot of weight. I was put on a med. called Megace to stimulate the appetite. It worked very well and i noticed increased appetitie in about 2 days.

I have wondered since why our GI's do not mention this medication when we are flaring and can't eat.  This med is used in many medical circumstances (eating disorders, cancer patients, ect) so, why isn't it brought to our attension.  Of course, all meds have side effects (and lists of potiential problems), but they are no worse than the side effects of our UC meds.....just food for thought (no pun intended)

Hey Malkavian,

I totally understand about not feeling festive (or hungry).  I've kinda' learned to fake it by putting lots of food on my plate and picking at it all night, drinking non-alcaholic drinks that look alcaholic, etc.  Especially at parties, but sometimes I do it just with my husband so things can feel "normal" for me sometimes.

Did you end up having a nice Valentine's Day?  I hope so!
