You sound like how I was when I was first diagnosed...Ifelt that way for about a month before they diagnosed me and got on some meds. I am also 5'6 and was down to about 100 lbs...it was awful and I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. You should def call you dr. I think you should probably be on more pred with that much inflammation. I was put on 60mg when I was diagnosed. They also put me on asacol but that didn't do anything for me. If you're having pains in your stomach, asacol probably won't do much anyway because it's suppposed to start breaking down later in your digestive tract.
I was on remicade a few months after I was diagnosed as well, and that really helped, but it took about a month to see the effects...you may have to be patient on that one. In the meantime you need more immediate attention on that inflammation and bleeding. Maybe you could try some sort of steroid enema to help with the bleeding and diarrhea? If you are in too much pain/too weak/too dehydrated, you could go to the ER. I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful. Keep us posted...hugs!!!
Oh, and as for worrying about having your colon removed, don't worry about that now. Just worry about getting better. I was where you are ten years ago and I've escaped surgery so far and have enjoyed plenty of prednisone and blood-free years. You will get through this.
