Azathioprine cost?

My Dr wants me to start taking Azathioprine. Does anyone know how much this drug costs? Also, if anyone knows of a mail-away that is cheaper, let me know. Thanks!!

It was costing me about $53.00 per month.

My insurance copay is ten bucks...it's not that bad especially compared to the cost of other drugs out there, like the 5-ASA's. If you look on Canadian pharmacy websites they usually give the out of pocket costs.

I understand it takes 2 months for Azathioprine to start working and keep your immune system from attacking your colon. Does anyone know if this drug really works? I am hoping it will keep me in remission for years. Anyone had luck with it?????? Did the flares stop during stressful situations, etc.?

I wanted to know this, too. If blood tests come back good, I will start next week.

I've been on it twice. First time it worked for me for a few years. This past time it has done nothing and now I'm having surgery (happily! Done with drugs).

My insurance copay has been only $4 a month...thankfully. I'm in the US. Unsure of why it's so different for everyone!

That was for a 30 day supply.  They were 50mg and I was taking 75 mg per day, so I guess 45 pills.  I wish I could continue to take them, they were working.  Unfortunately my liver wasn't.  You know, now that I think about it they were actually $43.00 for 45 50mg pills.
