Is this possible?

In your experience, is it possible to be on a high dose of pred, wean off and still have loose stools the whole time and then a week or two after weaning have the stools firm up? Is there any way that could be from the pred?

Pred does stay in the system for a while, so, maybe.....

Sometimes I think this disease does what it wants to when it wants to despite medications or treatments!

I am one who is always trying to figure out "why", to figure out cause and effect, UC is very, very frustrating, because 2+2 does not always seem to equal 4, in my experience.

But, we need to rejoice in improvements even if we can't figure them out - !

How long have the stools been firm?
I do think my first beloved GI had the right attitude when he said I shouldn't judge anything, good or bad, by one poop or one day, but look at the trend....

If the stools have firmed up... maybe the flare just got worn out and went away...?
But seriously, maybe the medication chemicals rising and decreasing somehow caused something in her system to go back into equilibrium...?

She's on Chinese herbs and a prescribed diet. But now he stools are so large and hard that I think she has a fissure or some colonic irritation. If it's not one thing it's another.

Do you think she's getting plenty of water? Or maybe some of the herbs have a constipating effect.

If her poops are pretty big and hard, it could be causing some tearing, which could be the reason for the blood. Do you think it's worth reducing the dose on the herbs somewhat?

As for prunes, I experienced the "awesome powers" of prune juice after I had my son. I had some post-childbirth-constipation, so drank prune juice. Shortly thereafter, I had the largest poop of my life. Wowzers.

I love prunes. I look forward to my daily snack of prunes!
