um I don't know what to think...

I went to the new GI, the one with 20 years experience, and he looked at my photo's from the colonoscopy and said you have chron's disease?  WHF? I asked why the other DR said colitis and he said probably because he saw all of your colon.  The biopsy's did not show anything!

Untill I see a reumy he doesn't want to change anything but said that I didn't need to do the canasa anymore because there was no inflamation in my rectum.  I see a reumy next week, but  my ra and ana came back negative so who know where I am at.

I went in there because of all the side effects from what I feel is from the asacol and came out on the same stuff only to be more confused and upset. 

Any thoughts or advice?

You can ask for the reports to be sent to a pathologist to determine better whether it's UC or Crohns
Mine had to be sent to 2 because they were uncertain
I don't get the doctor's answer though "because he saw all of your colon"? Wouldn't that make it MORE clear--not less. The difference between the 2 is whether the inflammation is continuous or patchy. Have you seen the pictures?

Pam he said that the other Dr felt probably felt it was colitis because he had seen the whole colon and the current Dr was basing his on just a few pictures.

He said we would not get a definative answer untill something showed different and wants to do a scope after I finish with the reumy. He specifically gave me a card and asked me to have the reumy call him.

Which I guess is better that the first Dr, who blew me off when I asked if he had any recomendations for a Reumy. I had to go back to my GP. Oh and half my chart is missing...in the paper file and the computer...I had been making sure he got copies of all my bloodwork from the other Dr's I see. go figure...

From my point, it is not only the difference between the two doctors' recommendations and medications. They may have different views and hence medication phisiology. Either of the two doctors is not advantageous over the other. For example, both bread and rice can be had when we are hungray. Talk to your doctors, and ask why a doctor gives his prescription.
