Home from hospital

After 5 days I am finally home from hospital

I had the colonoscopy yesterday which showed active UC in the sigmoid colon. There was alot of mucous throughout?

I have stopped the IV steroids and am on oral pred 20mg day reducing. They have increased the Mercaptupurine to 75mg.

I saw a dietician yesterday and she has told me to try the low fibre diet and has also prescribed 3 ensure drinks a day.

Hopefully I am on the road to recovery. The combination of bowel prep steroids and lack of food and sleep were making me feel really down and fed up.

 

yayyy! It's good to be home eh? I was stuck in the hospital too and didn't realize the comforts of home that I took for granted ;)

You know, I can't imagine not having a private room!!! Our hospital has private rooms and even then it was tough to sleep. The guy in the room next to mine was 96 and kept calling out to the nurse all the time for water (he wasn't allowed anything I gathered from the discussions), and then they come in non-stop to check vitals or take blood or whatever. And why is it that the IV fluids always seem to run out in the middle of the night and the darn thing is beeping at you???

To have a share a room must have been brutal!!

I am still having a hard time. They decided to decrease my Movicol and now I can't go to the toilet :-( it's been 2 days now. I don't feel hungry because my stomach is bloated.

There is no happy medium it's either constipation or going to the toilet 15+ times a day.

I have started the low fibre diet but was wondering if anyone experiences this with their colitis? Have you found anything that helps?
