Well, I'll just throw in my 2 cents. I don't have a side in this one. My first delivery was vaginal and I had a horrific tear/episiotomy that had to be resewn when my son was 3 months old. For my next delivery I switched to an awesome doctor and he gave me the option of vagainal or c-section. He did advise me though that if I had another vaginal delivery and tore again that I could have problems with leakage from the rectum for the rest of my life. That pretty much sold me there. And I the time, I didn't even have UC. So I had #2 and #3 c-section and was glad I did. Recovery from the episitomy was excrutiating, to say the least, much, much, worse than my c-sections. Granted, everyone had different experiences and most people who do tear during deliveries only have small ones. My was the 4th degree. I will say that I had a surgery consult yesterday at the Cleveland Clinic and both the doctor and his assistant wanted to know if I tore during my child's vaginal delivery and if I had problems with incontinence. Fortunately, I have good control "down there."
