Hello everyone,
I would like to recommend certain remedies that have helped me a lot. And have kept me away from the hospital and steroids. I believe everything is worth trying at least once especially if you are about to have surgery.
I had steroid dependent colitis and was not able to wean off the drug. Through years of trial and error I found what worked and what did not.
First thing I would like to recommend is cabbage juice it is high in glutamine and vitamin K. Glutamine helps repair the intestine. I have used pharmaceutical grade glutamine and found it only caused more irritation. The glutamine in cabbage juice is all natural and does not cause any problems. The vitamin K in the cabbage juice also helps the colon. Drink 1 glass full everyday. Do not include the white middle part of the cabbage, in your cabbage juice. Also, Cabbage juice causes problems for the thyroid. So, you should supplement with extra iodine. I use angstrom iodine two drops with the cabbage juice in order to prevent goiter. In about a month you will see results and you will feel much better.
I tried different types of enzymes some which aggravated my condition. But I found a multi enzyme that helps a lot. Enzymes help digest the foods you eat. From what I read on the internet multi enzymes help destroy the bad pathogens in the intestines.
I use digest gold by enzymedica. If you plan on buying a multi enzyme make sure it is plant based. Do not take the enzymes while taking antibiotics. And do not take the enzyme at the same time as asacol and colazal. I usually take the enzyme in the middle of lunch or dinner then take colazal after I eat. Note certain medications become more potent when taken with a multi enzyme.
Enteric coated acidophilus (pearls) also help with colitis symptoms.
I do not take vitamins because most vitamins have binders and fillers that cause inflammation such as silicon dioxide, carregeenan, microcrystalline cellulose, etc. Try and keep away from all products that contain those ingredients.
Within a month or two you should feel better.
