Paranoid mom?

Of course for all of us with UC, we are afraid to pass this along to our kids.

My son who is 3 woke up last night at 4 in the morning with "a tummy ache". He sat on the potty and all that came out was some toots and there was a bit of mucus. Then at 5 oclock, he woke again. This time he pooped a bit and I did see a little red in it. Now Im sooo worried. He was on eye drop antibiotics for pink this week, so not sure if that upset his stomach. My daughter who is 7 had one bought of the same thing when she was 5, but has had nothing since and is fine.

Do I need to worry????

when something like that i freaked too! I mean, like totally freaked, i had his sugery planned out already, lol.
Turned out it was just too much milk.
But no i dont think you are overacting, i totally understand.
However it probably was just from the stomach ache.
Apparently its pretty common at that age to have mucus in the poop, even a little bit of blood with stomch problems, it has something to do with the lining still being really soft and developing, its been a few years since it was explained to me.

My son went (pooped) again on Sunday and besides being a little soft, there was no blood or mucus. whew.

Funny..today, after I picked him up from school on the car ride home, I usually ask him how his day at school was, but instead he said "Arent you going to ask me how my tummy feels?" I guess I asked him a few too many times over the weekend, huh? :)

It is just heart wrenching to think that you can pass this on to your child. But I do know that my mother, who was diagnosed with UC at the age of 18, and who felt horrible that I got this disease from her....not once have I ever been angry or resentful of her for giving me this.
So I can only hope that IF it ever happens to one of my children, that they will feel the same way.
