If my memory is correct, I think your surgery is any day now. Just wanted to wish you good luck and a speedy recovery. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

hey scrap-a-roni! ... my surgery is this wed. I have to do that same prep that I do for colonoscopies tomorrow and I am so excited to eat clear fluids all day. i will be honest as much as i am excited I am pretty friggin nervous and I don't know why .. well, I do, but I should be more excited about it. Thanks for the well wishes. I just got a netbook so I am hoping this hospital has wireless or something so i can at least contact the outside world.

You'll do great! If you weren't at least a little nervous you wouldn't be human. Are you getting a j-pouch? Are you having a two-step? Mine is a three-step so it's going to take a while but if you have a two-step the whole thing will be done before you know it. Good idea bringing a netbook. I had a lot of downtime and you can only watch so much tv.

I am actually going for the two-step j-pouch. i can't believe this is all going to change after tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to starting my life over again after living with this hell for over two years. How long were you in the hospital for?

Good luck, Anthony! Of course you're nervous - I was horribly nervous even before my hip surgery, lol. It's human nature to be nervous of things we've not yet experienced.
I enjoyed having my netbook in the hospital, so I hope that works out for you.
Hooray for the new life you're about to enter!!

I was in the hospital for one week. I'm so jealous of you getting a two-step. I wish I could have but apparently I wasn't healthy enough. Not looking forward to that second surgery and getting opened up again. It's taken a little while to get use to the "appliance" but I think I've gotten the hang of it. It's not terrible. I have to dress differently - wear longer shirts, etc. Would probably be easier for a guy because it seems like men's shirts are naturally long. Right now my only issue is that my stoma can be so noisy, especially during the night. It's one thing if you're around people you know but I'm hoping it quiets down a bit before I go back to work as a newspaper reporter. Are you having it done laproscopically or open?

Hey Anthony; wishing you all the best with your surgery! And heck, I was nervous just having silly knee surgery. After I was just about ready to go into surgery (all dressed in the lovely cap, gown, and booties; I told my husband to just take me home, I'm don't really want to do this. So I guess anxiety is all part of it! But excitement, yes...you'll be UC free come tomorrow. Again, all good thoughts coming your way.
