Burnbaby-your gas will decrease over time, i promise! A few things you can do in the meantime, take a few gasx before bed. Watch for what foods are causing it, then dont eat them shortly before bed. One of the people on the ostomies board was having that problem, and her ET suggested that she may be sleeping with her mouth open, and sure enough she was! once she figured out how to stop that, it helped alot.
Also, don't let yourself get hungry, if you do you will get gas for sure.

burnabygirl, if the only thing you're not liking about the ileostomy is the gas, that's awesome. I had a hard time with my temp ileo and was very happy to have my take down 4/6.

As far as the gas though, Hollister makes bags that have a charcoal filter and vents out the gas so you don't get that "balloon." You may want to ask them for a sample so you see if that works for you.

Thank you summerstorm and Meesh! I have an appointment to see my ET nurse tomorrow and I will ask her about my gas problem.

Summerstorm, I've never heard or read this before but I have suspected this might be the reason for some of my bad gas incidents a few times... do you know why this happens?  Or anyone else who reads this and knows, please chime in.
