I'm 49 and just experienced 3 weeks of bleeding, cramps, chills and lots of weight loss. I RE-commenced smoking AGAIN and I'm pleased- at the moment - I'm not flushing Hawaiian Punch down the drain. I've had UC for about
40 years and I was hoping that Lialda would work as a preventive measure - it didn't. Whenever I quit smoking, the UC kicks in at 4 months after that time. I'm curious as to why the doctors have NO INTEREST in finding out why this happens. Why dont they want to take measurements, do a wide range of bloodwork to compare a person like me before and while smoking. I'm sure there's an immunosuppresent angle to this, but I'm pretty sure I'd rather suck on an exhaust pipe a couple times a day than cigarettes if I knew it worked. I've tried nicotine, patches, inhaler, gum....that's not it. Before the UC kicked in, I was jogging about
10 miles a week and keeping fit.
I'm just very frustrated. Thanks for your time.
