Gosh, this is all sooooooo helpful! My kid is going on a trip with his school band in two weeks. We think he'll be fine, but I want to make sure I've provided for every eventuality. (He really is almost out of the flare... should he go backward, symptom-wise, my husband will just have to go along on the trip - I can't, too close to the hip surgery.)
I went out today and bought Altoids (they'd worked for me...) and I found the Nauzene!
Interesting, CM - sometimes he'll have some Powerade or Gatorade in the morning. Hmmm.
As a rule, he's not been a breakfast eater, though through the years he's had spells when he has eaten breakfast. He did eat something this morning to see if that would settle things... and I haven't heard anything from him or the school, so I guess he worked through it.
Sherry - he did complain about heartburn at night some months back; and I know he has a bad postnasal drainage that has sometimes made him queasy (and used to cause ear infections when he was little.) I'll ask him about the "heartburn" and if that's still happening we'll ask his GI when we see her in late May.....I had hoped at the moment it was his eating habits: a lot and heavy food late at night.
You all are the greatest!!
