My name is Sumaira Malik and I am a researcher in the Institute of Work Health and Organisations (I-WHO) at the University of Nottingham. We are currently undertaking a project funded by the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (NACC) to investigate the role of online support communities for individuals living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

 

We would therefore like to invite individuals who are living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease to take part in an online survey about their experiences of accessing online support communities (e.g. discussion forms, chats rooms etc). It is anticipated that the survey will take between 20-25 minutes to complete.

There is a bug with the survey that I thought you should know about. The code will not allow multiple selections in the same column.

Yes I had that problem too. Some of the sections I couldn't complete because of it.

I also couldn't complete some sections. It was the ones where there was a page of questions about how often we have someone to talk to, get hugs from, etc, and we had choices like "all of the time" and "none of the time" to select. When you fix it, please let us know and I'll go back and answer those questions.

Also, I assume that you will eventually be publishing a journal article that includes data from this survey. When the article is published, could you please post a copy of it here? I am sure most of us would be very interested in reading it.

So do we need to complete the entire survey again?

Also, as I asked above, will we be able to access the results of the study (such as a journal article) once you are finished?

Hi,

No you dont have to complete the entire survey again, if you just want to fill out the pages you were unable to complete the first time and email me the password you used I can then combine your responses. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We are hoping that we will be able to publish the results in the form of journal paper eventually and I would be happy to post a copy of the article here when that happens.

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to complete the survey. We have had a good response so far. However, the study is still running so if you have not yet completed the survey please consider taking a few moments to add yours views and experiences to this important issue.

It is estimated that the survey will take around 20-25 minutes to complete depending on how much you choose to write.
