So for those of you who just started these, how's it going? I picked up my script
last Monday, & have done either 3 or 4 of them since then- if it's a good night for an enema, I'll do one! So I'm using them sporadically- I am scheduled for another Humira shot this Thursday & my GI & I thought we'd try the enemas to reduce bleeding. So far they're working pretty well- the bleeding is still there, but not nearly as much as I was seeing prior to using them. And my stools have been so formed lately it's a little nuts! Overall I'm happy with them- I haven't noticed any side effects, like with oral steroids. I plan to do one tonight, do my Humira on Thursday, & maybe do 2-3 over the following week. How is everyone else "enjoying" them?

I use them and they are the only thing that reduces the bleeding for me. I don't have any side effects, but they are hard to retain sometimes!

the one thing I don't like about
them (& this is probably true of all enemas) is that they act sort of like a laxative for me- I can hold them in ok, but the next day I go to the bathroom a LOT. All formed, little to no blood or mucous. I'm guessing it's just the effect of putting a liquid in your colon that causes this. Or, if the steroid enemas are doing their job & reducing inflammation, maybe it's that the colon can work better overall. Whatever..... it can be a pain, but if it stops bleeding, it's worth it in my book! I also notice that when I do one, I have insomnia that night, tend to wake up a lot, trouble falling asleep, etc. Nothing like oral pred, but still sleep issues. At least I'm not up running to the bathroom though!

I have no problem holding them in all night but they don't seem to help me enough. I am not sure they reach far enough for me.
Mornings have been really bad lately.

Just got back from my GI and he put me on Cort-enemas until my colonoscopy on 6/22. Hoping this is just the thing I need to kick this flare out of my colon once and for-all. Well, maybe not "for all".
