KrissyUC ~ The Pentasa seems to work well for me. I have had one bad flare since being on it but I know it was because I had recently gone through a surgery and was very stressed about things.
I have done a lot of research on all of the medications out there and I feel really good about Pentasa. I was tried on Asacol twice and each time, my diarrhea got about ten times worse! I have also been on Salofalk supps since my diagnosis and I once tried to reduce the dose to one every other night but it was not a good idea. I seem to do well on the Pentasa, four pills twice a day, Salofalk 500mg supp at bedtime, and the Cholestyramine powder once a day. For me, stress seems to play the biggest role in my flares. Well, that and stupidity. If I don't take care of myself, eat right, sleep well, exercise, and reduce stress, I am sure to flare. Can't blame my meds if I am not doing my part.
Good luck with swallowing the "horse pills"
