My psychologist this morning told my to try getting one of those self work books like some kind of cognitive behavioral therapy thing. Hopefully that helps with my inability to block out all of my stressful thoughts.Hi meowmix (and others)
I got help with hypnotherapy for the mental issues of UC and can really recommend it for you. My hypnotherapist even gave me a recording of each session (I paid extra) so in between sessions I could replay it for additional reinforcement. I put it on my Ipod and used it at bedtime.
Realllly helped me. Did NOT cure my UC physical symptoms. Also improved my tennis game
(concentration and focus).
The way I approached the therapist was telling her exactly what I wanted to achieve and that I wanted a recording. Each session we worked on a different couple of problems. I also bought a hypno book later (when I stopped going to her) that had "script
s" and made my own recordings and that worked really well too. (For those who can't afford the hypnotherapist this would work well).
She was disappointed that she couldn't "cure" my UC with her therapy but I was very satisfied with the results. My DH 1.5 years after my therapy has decided to try it out for some things he wants to improve.
Although drug therapy for the mental part of UC is very useful for a lot of people it's not what I wanted to use.
Best wishes. Life is hard enough without UC but with it is a whole 'nother thing.
