I'm back on Lialda, but it has been a while... can any of you tell me some of your most common side effects with this drug? I don't remember having problems with it last time but this morning I felt I had some weird anxiety...

I use Lialda for Crohns and I have not noticed any side effects. I am on entocort also at full strength right now and no side effects from that either.

I've taken Asacol for about 15 years without side effects... I believe the 5-ASA drugs, which Asacol and Lialda are, are supposed to primarily work as "topical" medications - which means as they dissolve, down in the colon, it's the medicine on the walls of the colon, as it slides on through, that is supposed to help. So not a lot of it gets into our bloodstream----- and so, there aren't a lot of side effects. These are considered to be really safe meds, exactly because not a lot of it gets into our systems.

I get some "weird anxiety", as you said, almost every time I take a new thing, but it's just my head doing a trip on me. Lialda has helped a lot of people with very little negative, and I hope it's exactly the right thing to help you!! :-) Think positive thoughts as you pop 'em tomorrow, and let's hope they are your new friends!

When my left-sided colitis was at the moderate to severe stage I started using Lialda and felt a number of side effects including anxiety, (more) urgency due to a full feeling in my stomach, and headaches.  The doctor recommended cutting back from 4 pills to 2 and taking them at night.

Taking them at night (always after food) really helped.  Once I built up a tolerance I was able to work my way up to 3, and then 4 pills nightly.  I'm currently taking 2 nightly for maintenance and since my flare has prettymuch gone into remission Lialda doesn't seem to bother me as much.

Really hope you feel better - I remember how horrible those first few weeks of Lialda were!  In my experience it was worth sticking with it.

I realize everyone's different, but for me it was Lialda plus Rowasa that helped me go into remission.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to stick to it no matter what. I'm running out of options, it seems.... and I really want the Lialda to work. I had taken it before but still wound up in the hospital a few months later, so at that time it definitely didn't do what it was supposed to.... Hopefully this time will be different....I'll keep you posted.

I have been on Lialda for just over a year. No side effects. And so far it has provided the best results in controlling my symptoms. Over the years, I have been on Asacol, Pentasa, and Colosal (spelled wrong I know).
