Hi im back...sucks...Ibuprophen? flare..

A few weeks a go i pulled some muscle in my neck/upper back and was in serious pain i took a prescription 600m Ibuprofen, i know the story, we shouldn't take Ibuprofen..i had taken two Advil a few times in the past in remission and no problem..Well i started to see some streaks of blood on the stool the following day.. immediately started Canasa and it helped, tapered it to early probably and now i think im heading into a mild flare, hopefully mild. GOD this sucksss. My flare started last year in August, here we are summer time and this one started do you guys believe in the seasonal thing as well? id love to nip this in the butt before it gets any worse. the timing is complete Blullcrap for the summer.......! cry

Gosh, I'm sorry. Maybe the combination of the extra-strong ibuprofen and "your season" to flare....?
But maybe it'll go away quickly because you got right on it with the Canasa. I hope so.

Some 20 years ago I developed a horrible backache while on vacation (some nasty old mattress in a rental cabin) and took 2 Advil every whatever hours, the max OTC dose, and in about 3 days I was bleeding a lot. I've stayed away from it since then, and have argued with healthcare providers and hospital staff ever since, "No, I can't take that......!" Argh.

I find the best thing is to keep up the rectal meds at least a week or two longer than I feel I need them before tapering, so it can address the inflammation that I'm not even seeing or feeling evidence of.

Wolverine, Ibuprofen can increase the chances of intestinal bleeding in people with an IBD because it thins the blood.

Jazz, I'm sorry to hear that you might be flaring again. But you are definately being proactive about it and that's awesome! And don't you just love the timing of Uc??? I am mildly flaring too and it is NOT a good time for me - my sons graduation party is this weekend and then I'm leaving for Arizona in a week for 2 weeks. So I can definately understand the horrible timing this dreaded disease has! Hang in there and I hope you nip this quickly.
