I am always amazed at how sick I can be in the morning (this morning for instance), and still somehow make it to work. That to me has always been somewhat of a miracle.

Depends on what one considers functioning, I suppose...lol.
In truth, my meds have allowed me to function without much hindrance to my normal peak functioning. But I do have days when I'm flaring, I function to the minimal.

My approach has always been that I do what I need to do. I have personal and professional commitments that mean a lot to me. Unless I am unable to get out of bed (which has never happened), I'm doing it. I refuse to let this disease take over my life more than it already does.
If my assistant can come to work while undergoing chemotherapy treatment, I can get here when my stomach hurts. If another woman I work with can come to work while undergoing dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant, I can get here when my stomach hurts. If my manager who has Type I diabetes and an insulin pump can come to work, I can get here when my stomach hurts.
I do recognize that some of the people I share a bathroom with at the office may wish I took a different approach!

I always try my best too. Usually I can control when I get home, like if I'm at school and don't feel good I can always leave. But here I'm stuck and it makes me nervous. Plus the big meal here is lunch which is a terrible idea lol
