Hi all,

I have UC/UP and I live in the Philadelphia area. Does anyone know of any doctors that will do this procedure (Fecal transplantation). There are alot of articles about it being the answer to ibs/uc/c.diff and a host of other digestive diseases. Thanks so much!

I saw that no one had answered you yet, so I thought I'd chime in.
If you use the "search" function, you'll find some lengthy threads about fecal transplant on this forum. I think several of the folks here who tried it did it the "do it yourself" way using the poo of family members. Some had good results, others did not.
If anyone knows of docs who'll do it, and in the Philly area, I hope they respond!

Yes. I did the do-it-yourself approach. Some notes:

Just like with sharing any kind of germs, I picked someone (my granddaughter) who is healthy.

I used very little poo, mixed it with water (half poo, half water), and put it up my butt with a syringe. I did this one to two times for one treatment.

Three treatments worked for me. But the standard is something like 5 and 10 treatments over 5 to 10 days.

I used the poo right away.

I just don't understand why more people don't try fecal transplantation. Yes. It has a gross factor. But having UC is far grosser. And yes there could be a risk of setting off a flare, but what if one is already in a flare? And then prescription meds come with so many side effects. I just don't get it.
