OT - Any summer plans?

Hi all:

Now I know for those of you in the southern hemisphere it's winter, but I thought maybe we could do a summer plans thread.  Or hey, if you have winter plans, you can share those too.

We (me, hubby and 3 kids) are doing things like camping and the zoo during the summer, no formal vacation as this fall we are going to Disney World (fingers crossed to keep this nice remission!)

Anyone else?

I'm in Germany and my most important plans are to go home on Sunday! I'm so friggin' excited! This trip has been so frustrating and sad for me. Some good moments, but all in all I just want to be home relaxing and swimming and cuddling.

Camping and possibly backpacking. It will be the first time since I was a little kid that I'll be camping. I've never been backpacking before.

Well, We've still got a few weeks before the kids finish up over here, but we usually meet up with some old friends who holiday down where we are living now. Since moving to the south west of england its just so lovely and we've been so skint(!) that we've just taken each day as it comes. We moved down here 18 months ago and I remember telling my kids that I was just going to have to take a year or two to settle in, dealing with the stress of the move and such, settling in, building up from all the stuff we lost in the move, so we havent had any summer plans for the last few years. We love camping tho, if we can get our hands on some camping gear we may just do some of that. Im just planning on taking it slow. My girls are going into secondary school next year so they are growing up. Im planning on just loving on them, hanging out, chillin'. When we moved we lost everything, long story, so Im looking forward to possibly getting some garden furniture and spending lazy summer evenings with dh in the back garden... the simple life...

I'm just hanging out with my 14 month old son. We've been going to a lot of story hours, play dates, etc.
Next month, my husband, son, and I are going to a lake house my MIL is renting for 8 days. She will be coming with and her other sons and sister and her son.

We seniors here are just enjoying being WARM!

We plan on a wedding and a reunion - family is always fun!  I will have several teeth removed getting ready for a knee replacement which should be before Fall - all fun things!!

     Sounds like we have a lot of campers in here.  We have been camping since 1978.  Started with a pop-up and graduated to a travel trailer with a slide out.  It's only a year and a half old.  Last year we  had a seasonal spot at Thousand Trails in Hershey, PA.  This year I cannot get my head past surgery on Monday.  Once I come through that and take one day at a time, hopefully, we will be able to get some camping in by the end of August.  I love fall camping...the most beautiful time of the year.

I miss camping so much.  Everyone who is camping and loves it - keep doing it unti you can't.  We can't anymore and miss that and our boat.  Many good memories, however.

MOVING! And the road trip that comes with it! I'm moving to Texas for August second, driving down with my boyfriend. We're stopping in Knoxville and New Orleans on the way down. Also the weekend before my friends are going to throw a going away party for me which is pretty much going to consist of wandering around New York City and eating stuff.

Afterward I get to start work on my Ph.D.

Also my birthday and my mom's birthday are both the summer...mine is June 28 and my mom is July 14. And my 4-year (dating) anniversary with my boyfriend is August first.

RELAXING! I'm taking summer courses and I'm anxiously awaiting the end! Then I get 6 weeks off before I start all over again. Nothing too major planned. Maybe a camping trip to Grand Marais if I'm lucky.

Oh yeah, I mighhht get to go up north and I'm going to Cedar Point! My two-year dating anniversary was on the 14th lol. But my bf and I were both out of the country so it's gonna be belated.

I just returned from a week hiking trip in Colorado and have a 60 mile hike booked for August in the California Sierras. My winter plans include a 4 week hike and bike trip through SE Asia.

calm, yeah I like it. But big hills scare me, I prefer loops. I don't know why those are fun and not scary lol. I love the Maverick!

Aw, this will be the first summer we won't go camping in our small RV. Last year we visited upstate NY and Niagara (US and Canada). It was so beautiful and relaxing.

This year we're taking a train trip instead (due to his back problems not my UC lol), starting in Montreal and heading east to the coast.
I'm brushing up on my high school French :-)

Yes! I am going on vacation to northeast Iowa (where I used to live and miss a ton!) for a week in mid-July! I am so excited! In exactly three weeks at this time I'll be there! Me and my boyfriend are going to camp the whole time, hike everyday, go canoeing and eat at all the restaurants I love and have been missing since I moved away last November.

I plan to go to the lake with the fam and go tubing the day after my colonoscopy. We'll see how that goes! :D

Malkavian: I hope you like Texas when you get here! :) I live up in the Dallas area. What region are you moving to?

I'm also from Texas in the Austin area. Rented a boat & cruised the lake last weekend. I'm going tubing on the comal river hopefully soon. The lakes & rivers are great here!!!
