Anyone had these symptoms?

I've had UC for 3 years now and I've been constantly on and off flare ups since then.

Recently I've had extreme lower back pain and swelling, sharp pains under my left breast/rib area, and extreme fatigue. 

I've also had some things happen in the past three years that I'm not sure if they are related or not... such as a benine tumor, increased migraines, and long and short term memory loss.

Anyone else experienced any of these things and if so what has your doctor suggested?

I think I've seen others on here describing your symptoms.
I wouldn't say the tumor, headaches, or memory loss is related to the UC. Where was the tumor?

Tumor was in my right breast and I had to get it removed about a year after being diagnosed and thank you, I will definitely add more information to my signature right now.

Well there are lots of options if you keep flaring. You can ask about a sulfa drug, other mesalamines, rectal meds (Rowasa), Imuran/6mp (immunomodulators). There is also Remicade and Humira but I'd wait on those.
You can also try other diets. There'e the SCD, raw foods, lots of others on here.
Also you could consider some supplements. Probiotics are good, as well as turmeric, vitamin D and E, all kinds of stuff. You can do searches in the forum if you're curious.

No Enimas?

I take a asacol enima when I feel rough along side the oral enima of 2 x 800mg asacol twice a day

The doctor prescribed me a week of enimas when I was younger that was all I've take. Do they help?

Hi BrittNC,
I don't know if those other symptoms are related....but want to add that I wonder if your UC is affected by ibuprofin that you take for migraines. I seem to flair after taking that. I also have migraines and had my GP prescribe Midrin whenever I have a problem. Ibuprofin may not be a problem for you, but for many w/ UC it causes a flair up. Good luck w/ everything and hope you get more answers.

From my personal experiences I could tell that lower back pain, if one sided, could be due to kidney stones or just a muscular pain. Last time I had pain like that it lasted about three weeks and happened to be muscular. But I have also had lower one sided back pain (dull and persistant) due to kidney stone.

I think I also heard that ibuprofen is not good for UC but I am not sure about that. I would definitely read more or ask GI about that.

Ive had short term memory loss but I wasnt sure if it was down to uc. The other symptoms (except migrains) I get. I get extreme exhaustion, Ill sometimes get back pain, not sure what you mean about swelling tho. I get very bloated tho.

my dr's have always just said 'Yeah, thats to be expected' and that was it. Very frustrating.

Thanks everyone and I know that ibuprofen can make it worse but I take it in complete moderation. My migraines can get very severe and i've had them since I was quite young.

I'm thinking the back pain may be muscle related but I will keep an eye out for other signs.

And I know Chrons isn't the same thing as UC but it is simular.. and there is a thing called chrons fog where you forget certain things and your memory can sometimes be affected..
not sure if UC people could have that but it is a thought
