Hi All, I can't take it any more, the blood, dark blood clots (looks likes sometimes) I have a scope scheduled for the 20th at 8am! Yeah! Has anyone done the Miralax prep? That's what my doctor is doing now.

Also, I want to try th probiotic enemas, going to try tonight.

Hi Linda...good your c-scope is scheduled soon. Best to see what the heck is going on. Didn't realise it was that long ago.

I've never done the Miralax...only the gallon preps, so can't help you there.

Never did the probiotic enemas...Definitely keep us posted on them.

Thank you I will try. I know when I did the vitamin E enemas that helped heal the colon I think. Just got out of doing it, lot of prep time squeezing out vitamin E from a capsule.

Yes, let us know about the probiotic enemas! Sounds interesting to me; I've had such good luck even just taking the probiotics orally.

Last year, my 24th scoping, I did the Miralax for the first time and found it by far the easiest one I'd done. Miralax has no flavor whatsoever, so it was just a matter of mixing it with something I cold stand to drink a quantity of but also something I didn't love, figuring the association would make me dislike the drink from then on.

Good for you, scheduling a "look-see"!

I had  my last scope on 6/22/10 and used the dulcolax/Miralax prep.  On 6/20 I ate normally and then on 6/21 I went all liquid diet. I took 4 dulcolax @ 3:00PM.  Mixed Miralax with 64 oz of gatorade and started drinking @ 5:00PM; 8oz every 30 minutes.  I wasn't able to drink more than half the mixture,  but was completely cleaned out and pooping just gatorade by 9:00PM. 

The Miralax Gatorade mixture was, by far, the best tasting prep I have every used.  I just couldn't manage to get it all down.  I think the Dulcolax softened everything up enough that I didn't really need all that volume to wash it out of me.  smilewinkgrin

I've been researching cat's claw. It's apparently very effective in treating lyme compared to standard abx therapy. There's a pretty encouraging study carried out by some MD/NDs. Thought you might be interested. Sorry, it's off topic, but just thought you might want to know.

My daughter has done the Dulcolax/Miralax prep with all 3 of her colonoscopies.......we mix the Miralax with 64 oz. of gatorade (use a flavor you don't like!  Or at least one that you can live without..........whatever flavor we've used, by the end of the prep she never wants to drink that flavor gatorade again!), the first time we didn't know any better and she drank it all, the last two times I had her stop drinking after about 2/3 of the way through, when only clear liquid was coming out of her.  The notations on her colonoscopies have always read "bowel prep: excellent." 

Her GI had explained to me that the reason why they like to use this prep is because the miralax is purely topical, and does not get into your system the way other bowel preps might.

My last colonoscopy that was done in march was the dulcolax/miralax prep. It wasn't bad at all. I drank about half of it and was going clear so i stopped. Good luck!

That's what my doc tells me to use.
I prefer to mix the Miralax in grape Propel. But next time I won't mix it all with one flavor, I was sick of it.
Also, be sure it's kept cold, that helps for some reason to disguise the taste.

I wouldn't stop early, even it you think you're clear. It's not that bad.

When I had my colonoscopy in September I did a magnesium citrate/miralax prep. I wish I had known that I could have used lemonade instead of gatorade when I did it, because I HATE the taste of all gatorade. Pick a flavor that you can stand---the suggestion of choosing different flavors might be helpful too! I also wish I could have known it was safe to stop once I was going clear, because that didn't take long for me (probably since I had hardly been eating in the few days before due to D). I had my colonoscopy in the afternoon and had to start the miralax in the morning. I drank about 5 8-ounce glasses and then I just couldn't do anymore, but I was perfectly cleaned out for the scope. The first couple colonoscopies I've had, I had to use the Fleet Phosphosoda. That stuff was awful. I don't even think they make it or sell it anymore. The last one I used Moviprep. I have never had Miralax, but I can highly recommend AGAINST the Moviprep. That stuff was nearly undrinkable. Best of luck with the Miralax. :-)

I did the dulcolax/miralax prep for my first colonoscopy. It cleaned me out good but I did get a little bit sick and ended up throwing up. I am not sure why. Most people do very well on it so I wouldn't worry too much. I Hope you get some answers from your colonoscopy and feel better soon!!

My first colonoscopy when I went to the hospital before I was diagnosed they wanted me to drink a gallon of this clear liquid. Half the night before and half the day of the procedure. I don't remember what the stuff was called but they wanted me to drink a cup of it every 15 minutes. It was the most terrible thing I've ever tried to consume in my life. It tasted like a tuna can and every time I put it to my mouth I wanted to vomit. I only got through 3/4 of the jug but it took me over an hour to finish every cup.

Oh boy, can I relate! I felt like I was in apocalypse now spinning around my hospital room alone pulling an all nighter drinking lukewarm sea water like it was going out of style, ON TOP of being at the lowest point in my life on that particular day...talk about a marathon.
