Saw my GI for the first time!

Boy I'm sure liking Blue Cross right now. I had my first appointment with my GI today and he got me my medicine started immediately. He's looking through my medical information right now, but he jump started my medicine so that I can throw out my old Humira and use the new stuff. :) Everything is different here.. my GI wanted some lab work done so I went to the lab at the hospital and you get a separate room to just get blood work done. When I was with Kaiser you have a spot at a table with dividers up to separate the space. I think moving to Arizona was a nice change. I just hope that with the medicine my GI is giving me helps me get back into complete remission.

What medicine is the doctor putting you on now?  So you won't be taking Humira anymore?  Did Humira work for you?  Thanks

Seems like it was a relief for you to get a local GI Doc here in AZ.

It's a good feeling to have someone you can call if you need help.

I'm staying on my Humira, it's worked for me, but since I drove it 15.5 hours from Cali to Arizona, I think it went bad, my GI wanted me to throw it away and get a new prescription. I've had problems with the Humira I was taking when I was in Cali, so I took it until I was able to see a GI. Humira for me is a life saver since my body doesn't cooperate with the other drugs offered.

It sure was a relief to get in with a local GI asap. I discovered that Walgreens fills the Humira really fast and that they keep it in stock all the time. Unfortunately, the co-pay for my humira is $10 more than when I was in Cali. Also, my insurance plan won't fill my Humira for a month at a time since my GI upped my pen amount. I'm taking 2 pens every 2 weeks. Since Humira is over 4k, I can fill my medicine every 2 weeks instead of every month. Ugh! New things to get used to. Thanks again for suggesting for me to make an appointment ahead of time. It sure helped. ;)

Walgreens is great when it comes to hard to find medicines, especially the 24 hour ones.

There is a Walgreens a few blocks away that actually had cortifoam in stock. It was nice to able to start it the same day I got the script.

I use Safeway for everything else since the pharmacist knows me by name! That's kind of sad I suppose.

LOL! If the pharmacist knows you by name is ok though. Sounds kinda sad, but for people like us it's totally understandable. ;) I was hoping to be able to get my Humira filled at Fry's foods since I shop there, figured I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone, but oh well. At least I learned how fast Walgreens can be in filling prescriptions. :D
