Do many have family members with UC too?

Yes, it runs in my family. My mother's sister had Crohns, and my mother's cousin's family has several folks with UC and one or two with Crohns.
Then my kid and me.

No one at all. No autoimmune issues and no history of colon cancer.

Everyone is my familly is very healthy, no digestive issues at all.
I'm so jealous when I'm with them and they don't even have to think about their guts. Eat a huge meal, jump in the car or go for a walk...not me.

I was dx around 20 with UC. My mom got Chrons in her 50's. A first cousin got dx with UC in her early teens. A brother and sister have IBS. There were rumors of other stomach problems in grand parents but back then nobody talked about such things....

No diagnosed autoimmune disorders in my family. My mom has some kind of digestive issue. Doesn't sound like UC. Her doctor is so far calling it IBS which it could be, but periodically she gets sent for more tests since she gets these flares that seem like they could be "something" more than or maybe in addition to IBS.

Don't have any known relatives with IBD. But this means very little because my parents are immigrants and most of my relatives still live in the slums of Naples. I wouldn't know how healthy they may be.

Many are genetically prone to getting UC.

However, I don't think it's the case with me, other than having genes that make me human and have a colon.

None of my blood relatives have any autoimmune issues, digestive issues, or colon cancer. My digestive issues are from being on antibiotics for so long...

Had one maternal aunt who developed stricturing Crohn's disease by her forties. Also, a couple cousins of my mother either have UC or one of their kids or grandkids does. My maternal grandmother likely suffered from RA, but in her day arthritis was not taken as seriously nor differentiated as it is now. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

No one in my family has UC, however my mom did have a bout of her own many years ago when she worked for the Red Cross though that seemed to clear itself up after a month and never returned. I had never had a problem such as pancolitis until my ex doctor put me on Ciproflaxin over the phone for a bladder infection. After taking the super antibiotic, my insides have never been the same. Shortly after being on Cipro, I was diagnosed with pseudomembranous colitis after a sigmoidography and once I ended those ridiculously expensive antibiotics, I and have since gotten to my current state of severe ulcerative pancolitis.
