Hi,

I don't know if this is really allowed on the site, I just wanted to ask if, by any chance, anyone can recommend a good GI in Austin, TX? Someone who would really take the time to listen to the patient's concerns and be involved, not just prescribe medication and run out the door.

Check out vitals.com you can do a search for a GI in your area and see how they are rated by other patients. Best of luck!

I live just outside of Dallas and although I guess my GI is ok.... she isn't great. Here things are a little different. There are 2 conglomerates of GIs. Once you see one in a particular conglomerate you cannot see anyone else within that organization. There are only 2 Remicade centers - one for each conglomerate. Well I saw a GI with organization #1 and left her office in tears - so that wasn't a good fit. Went to see GI in organization #2 and although she was not a "make you feel good" kind of doctor, her infusion clinic was on the street I take from work to home. I am very sleepy after each infusion because I get extra meds and so I need a quick and easy way to drive, especially in the winter months when it gets dark early.

I have tried looking for other GIs but most do not have infusion clinics associated with them. They refer you to one of these 2 conglomerates.

I guess since I see her once a year and since I love the infusion nurse who takes care of me, I am going to stick where I am.

Finding a doctor is such a hard thing to do these days. I wonder how Obamacare is going to impact?

Hey Auburtica!!! I am from Austin, TX too cool   I see Dr. Craig Lubin at Austin Gastrological Clinic. I found him on CCFA's website. He is a very good Dr... Explains everything well, perscribes the usual medications, and most importantly wants to save my colon as much as I do. My only gripe is that he books several weeks (over a month right now shocked ) so I usually just end up seeing his PA Michael who is wonderful (thank goodness). He works in one of those big doctor groups... so when I was in the hospital for 2 weeks (they use Seton on 43rd St.) I had a visit from one of them almost every day, but I never actually say Dr. Lubin. Because of his avaliability, I am thinking about checking out someone else, I found very good online reviews for Dr. Sheer at Austin Diagnostic Clinic. He also has a TV spot video on their website that you can check out to get to know what he is all about. I'll let you know how it goes if I do end up seeing him in the next couple of weeks!!! smilewinkgrin

Recommending doctors is perfectly ok. Doctor bashing (specifically named), however, is not. So yes, your question is permitted.
