Does CA 125 gives an elevated reading with UC?

Hi,
I have to go for a couple of tests (ovarian cyst) and CA 125 is one of them..... does UC make CA 125 give a false elevated value. This is worrying me a little.

Hi....the CA-125 is for cancer markers, but it's not a diagnostic tool apparently.

There are definitely false positives or false negatives...

These issues you're having, and if they are affecting you hormonally, can also affect your UC.

You r right.... we r trying to start a family..tonns of pressure from home for grandkid. Both families know very little abt my flares.... dnt want to worry parents from both sides as there is nothing they can do abt it except worrying abt us. So we decided not to tell them much- they r old and we thought its time we stop giving them any more tensions. Then i had this cyst.... and along with this there r couple of other worries we have. So i guess me & my husband r going through a little rough time. I used to sleep very peacefully but now anxiety attacks at night just dnt let me sleep well..... i was also on clomid for 3 straight months(hormone medicine for baby making) which made me very emotional.....now we have decided no more clomid....maybe that was the reason i got a flare up in June. Both my Gyn & GI had approved clomid!!

endometriosis being considered autoimmune is strange, but why not discuss it as that. Other animals have it as well including horses..interesting.
I'm all for the wonky cell placement during cell formation.
Clearly directions for that process were faulty..

It's definitely controlled by hormone fluctuations. I don't consider it autoimmune at all.



Zamba...You know....once we ask more questions, the answers come. I'm not going to get into the desperation of baby-making and secrets regarding health issues, but in truth...you're only hurting/sacrificing yourself. I think allowing yourself time to actually heal would be a good thing.

Hormones such as fertility drugs, as well as the distress, guilt, other health issues..etc, will make your UC worse.

With having endo or ovarian problems (I went through it as well), I would encourage you to make sure you don't have ovarian cancer before assuming there's nothing else going on. Ovarian cancer can have the same symptoms as other disease/disorders....at least you can get that off your list. The blood test won't confirm one way or the other. If your cyst is endo related...at least you'll be clear regarding the cancer aspect.
