Colonoscopy Monday

My colonoscopy is scheduled for Monday at 10:30am. My GI is going to do 30+ biopsies as compared to my first colonoscopy that was done at my local hospital by my original GI. He only did 6 biopsies. She wants to be definitely sure of what she is dealing with as well as checking to make sure I don't have Crohn's disease atop my severe ulcerative pancolitis. I am NOT looking forward to having to do a prep kit but since I have been on liquids a majority of the week, i will most likely only have a light prep. I made sure that today I have had really nothing to eat in terms of solids and have been munching on jello and italian ice. I am hopeful that after all is said and done with this scope that my medication will be changed and I will begin to feel so much better. I made the mistake of taking Immodium while on a trip yesterday and I have been paying for every last pill. My insides are on fire and I am passing a lot of blood. My doctor said it would be okay to take especially while going on a bus trip during a flare but I honestly DON'T recommend it. I will post how everything goes Monday. Nervous but excited for a possible resolution at the same time.

You would have oUC or CD...CD in the colon would be classified as Crohn's Colitis.

I'll supect this GI is wanting to get into the terminal ileum to make sure that area's clear....one can have backwash colitis in the terminal ileum that's directly related to UC, not CD.

The biopsies may not be able to tell...unless you have areas that have gone deeper into the colon wall...

30 or more biopsies should be the norm anyway. Especially to make sure there's no precancer/cancer happening.
