Anyone ever have low white-cell count?

Several years ago, my routine blood tests showed that I had a low white-cell count. I was sent to a specialist who tracked me for a year or so. He suspected that perhaps the Asacol was causing it, so I stopped the Asacol, which had been working great for me, and switched to Rowasa enemas. Eventually he moved away and released me from tracking, saying it appeared to be just how my body is. After several years, my white-cell count seems to have gone back up to the low end of normal. But it wasn't a dramatic thing, so I'm still uncertain about whether the Asacol caused it.

Yes, I've had chronic low WBC for past several years, even when I'm not taking medication. They sent me to a hematologist who did full work up but teh only thing that showed up was a very low carnitine level and he put me on prescription supplements for a couple of months and I felt alot better. I have to get my blood checked now at least a couple of times a year.

I'm not taking any oral meds for UC. Forget to check "show signature" when I posted the initial message. The specialist I went to see was an oncologist hematologist. He did do more testing since taking me off the Asacol. For awhile there, I was going every week for blood tests! Then it was once a month for a year or so. I've had quite a few blood tests since he released me (my GI likes to keep tabs on it), and apart from the low white-cell count, the rest of the counts have always been normal. Last time I had a blood test, the white-cell count had gone back up to normal (the low end of normal, which was good for me).
