Hello there. I have been an O/O otr driver for over 20yrs. I am here to tell you, that yes hubby can still drive otr. I'm not saying that it'll alwasys be easy, but it can be done. I have been otr while in a flare and haveing to go 20+ times a day. Al I can say is make sure he has wipes with him, and as gross as it sounds, plastic bags, like walmart bags. A lot of times I have to pull off to the sholder and just do my business, and be on my way. Make sure he takes all his meds, and keeps a list of foods that tend to agree with him better then some. Also, let him know that this disease can humble the best of us. I have had to wear adult dipers at times when it got really bad, and have had accidents from time to time. Most of us have had accidents here. It's not that big a deal. it's embarrising, but he won't die from embarassment. this thing sucks, but it is a part of life now. He also really needs to get his rest and try to drink a lot of water and eat right. The best part of bing an O/O is being able to control hometime. I myself take the summers off, and a week here and there. I don't know if hubby is independent or if he's leased on with someone. If he or you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me and ask away. By the way, I know of 7 other drivers that have this and they still drive otr. Hope hubby is good. Read up on UC as much as possible and educate yourself. Also, I know it might not be what he wants to hear, but rectal meds along with oral meds seem to help a lot better then just oral meds. It's not fun or cool by any means, but like I said, this disease takes a lot of our dignaty, but I think it also makes us stronger. Our resadent rectal med queen, Quincy will agree with the rectal med recomdation. Keep us posted on whats going on. I may not be posting a lot, but I am reading here every day.
