I am freezing cold, with goosebumps even on my face. Anybody else feel like this?

I am scheduled for a colon scope to see why I am in so much pain and going to the bathroom so often. But even when I haven't gotten sick, I'm freezing cold. I usually wear several sweatshirts at home and quite a few sweaters at work. I don't seem to have the other side of a fever and have taken my temp and no fever. I don't know if it is anxiety or what. Sometimes it is preceeded by back leg pain, almost nerve pain. I'm confused. Any thoughts would be useful. Thank you.

Welcome to Healingwell. Are you bleeding when you go to the bathroom? If so, the cold feeling you are having may be from anemia. When do you go in for your scope and what are your symptoms?

Welcome to the forum. I have this problem periodically. I get really cold and cannot get warm now matter how many cloths or blankets I use. I think it is one of the symptoms of UC. :(

its b/c your bleeding...and u might have a slight fever....tell the doctor ...good luck....

Could it be malfunctioning thyroid? One of the symptoms of low thyroid is feeling cold when others feel warm. Also joint pains, sluggishness, etc.

You are probably anemic.
That will make you feel cold all the time, and make being in air conditioning particularly uncomfortable.

Slo-FE is a time-release iron supplement, the best for bad guts because iron in big doses is generally irritating to the gut, unfortunately.

I felt very cold (also shaky) when I had a severe UC flare that caused bleeding & multiple bms daily. It's important for you to have blood tested for vitamin/mineral deficiencies, in addition to the scoping your doctor recommends. In the meantime, keep yourself hydrated by drinking at least a cup of water, decaffeinated tea, or apple juice every waking hour. Also, rest as much as you can. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Weight loss and being thin (low body fat) also tend to make you much more sensitive to cold than "normal" people. And since a large percentage of the normal folks are overweight, they tend to be hot natured. Men also tend to be more hot natured than women, so if you're an underweight female, it's not unusual to be frozen out by family and coworkers running the air in the summertime.

Thank you so much for your replies, it is such a relief to know that I'm not alone. I've been told everything from gain some weight to move to a warmer country - not too helpful! The cold definitely is in sync with an 'attack' - multiple bms, watery, explosive d, no appetite, achy guts and just overall fatigue and sensitivity. The scope is going to be scheduled after a referral; can't happen soon enough.
This all started after I got sick in Costa Rica. I was given antibiotics after a 2 week bout of explosive D, never left the condo and was only lucky enough to fly home without incident, running from airport bathroom to airport bathroom. The antibiotics were called Cipro and apparently were the wrong ones as they destroyed all the good bacterias and left the bad. I was given fluid in the ER at home with no results so it wasn't a parasite. It's been about a year and a half and now I'm exhibiting signs of UC or non specific colitis. I know I've been in remission a few times, what a relief and difference! I've been taking probiotics most of the year. The only symptom that I lack is bleeding. I haven't seen any...The skin in the area is so sore it bleeds but I think that is from rough tp!
