I believe my symptoms are coming back! I am so frustrated! It was my last day of 2.5mg Prednisone, and I did good during the tapering (started at 20 mg). But yesterday, I noticed some pink mucous and some blood on the stool. It is not too bad yet, but I know it's coming... I started my Rowasa enemas last night and will continue, hoping they will work. I don't have D yet, just the mucous and some blood. I don't think it is due to something I ate, I was very good and I always cook healthy. I don't know, maybe the kids brought a virus from school (my little one has a runny nose.) Has anybody experienced flare symptoms from a cold virus or a strep? Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. If not, thanks even for reading.

Same thing happened to me. I am sure you will get things under control with the Rowasa. Try not to stress!

Thanks, I'll try. Though it is getting worse. I already went 2 times in the last 3 hours and only blood and mucous... It is not bedtime yet, I cannot wait to apply the enema. I read on this forum about other types of enemas - I have only used Rowasa (Teva) last month. Have you had success with other types?

I am going to call my doctor and ask for an appointment, though I am pretty sure it won't be until the end of next week, at least. I plan to ask him for other types of enemas. Has anyone tried the steroid enemas combined with Entocort? I read in a British medicine journal that this combination of steroids helped some UC-ers and did not have bad side effects, like Prednisone.

Any suggestions?

I feel your pain. I was dealing with a flare for several months and then symptoms started to improve. I got to the point where everything was normal...no pain, no blood, no mucus, formed stools, etc.

Then all of the sudden the UC said, "JUST KIDDING!"

I'm thinking about going back to prednisone. Canasa has helped a lot with the bleeding. Never tried Entocort though :/

Any time I had any other kind of illness, like a bad cold, it would cause things to flare up to some degree. That's why we need flu shots!

I have not tried entocort but I have heard it has less side effects. I've also seen a few people here who were on it and weren't seeing results. I have tried steroid enemas and they didn't help me at the time I tried them. Not sure if my situation was too severe or what but it didn't seem to have a positive impact. I think 5ASA enemas are helping more. I am tempted to give the cort enemas another try but I hate to rock the boat when I am finally doing decent.

I've tried Entocort and Asacol. The Entocort helped tremendously and I fell back immediatley after tapering it until I got on Rowasa.

Levi,

How did you get Entocort? My pharmacist says you can't get the enemas in the U.S.
