Prednisone Acne Rash

Trying getting something from store for face and body acne treatment. You may even be able to get something from a derm doc you feel it is that severe. Acne is a side affect of prednisone for many. But keeping the area clean and treating it can help alot.

Drink lots of water!! Also, maybe you can grow your hair out?

I feel your pain!!! I had acne realllllly bad for the first time in my life while I was on pred this last time... my whole face was covered and it got to the point the my skin was a huge amount of pain as well. I went to my dermatologist and he perscribed a cream called Epiduo (adapalene and benzoyl peroxide) Gel 0.1%/2.5% which helped only a little bit. I also used a cleanser with salicylic acid which also somewhat helped. He tried to perscribe an antibiotic which I refused to take because I was in full remission and did not want to mess with my UC. In the end, I just had to wait for about 2 weeks of not being on prednisone and the acne finally went away. hope that helps!!

Thank you so much for the recommendation to use products that are salicylic acid acne treatments and medications to treat the acne caused by using prednisone. This is my fourth bout with Ulcerative Colitis in 1 1/2 years, and the worst one. I was in the hospital for 18 days without improvement in spite of being treated with lots of meds. Finally, it was decided to use Remicade transfusion, and now I am about to get my third one--very effective. However, I am still taking prednisone and the facial rash and whiteheads were very annoying and unsightly. I am using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash three times a day. After I wash my face, I am using Clean & Clear's Advantage Acne Spot Treatment. Both have 2% Salicylic Acid. At night, I also us Clean & Clear's Dual Action Moisturizer (oil-free and 0.5% salicylic acid). After three days, almost all of the whteheads have disappeared, and the rash is much reduced. I learned about salicylic acid acne medication on this website. I bought all three items at CVS, but even our Giant store had two of the products at lower prices. All are reasonably priced. Thank you again for writing and recommending using salicylic acid acne treatment products.

As soon as you end your therapy, the acne will disappear. I remember going to sleep one night with perfectly clear skin, and waking up covered in acne. The only spared parts of my body were my face, my hands, and my legs from the knees down. The acne were literally 2 millimeters apart. When my therapy was over the acne were gone in less then a month, leaving no scars.
