Update: C diff and misery

 I was just diagnosed about a month ago with severe left sided UC.  Update: A couple emergency room visits, and then a full blown 5 days hospital stay, and I was also diagnosed with C diff.  I am back at home now taking medicines to try and treat both.  I had to medically withdraw from school, and I am hoping that I don't DIE!  I am calling my gi doctor tomorrow morning and going from there. I have been trying to stay off these boards due to the nature of this horrific disease (talking about all the negatives gives me anxiety), but I just wanted to let everyone know my status, and please pray for me! I definitely think surgery is a viable option for anyone with a severe case...and the benefit is that you will more than likely feel a whole lot better in the end. 

  I know that if something doesn't work soon, Lord willing, I will get the surgery!

I went through a very similar circumstance. I spent 10 days in the hospital. Follow the doctors orders and take your meds to get rid of the C-Diff. As you are doing this add in probiotics. The probiotics will help you control the C-Diff in the future. I am now in my second year of remission, but I still remember the pain and anxiety of dealing with the colitis and the c-diff at the same time.

There are a lot of people on this forum that can help you and answer your questions. You will also have a lot of people that will support you in a positive way.

Keep coming back and educating yourself on this disease. The more you know the better you will feel. Knowledge is power.

futuremd-i assume you are taking vancomycin for the c- diff.i recentl SUFFERED from the same problem- i feel for you . youseem to be on the right meds you will be feeling better soon as you get out of this flare- just hang in there and keep us informed.
