Yup-It's finally come to that.
I am 28 years old and have been losing hair even before my UC dx. The hair loss and really ramped up since my last flare this summer (that is still happening). It's now impossible to hid or style around.

Perhaps it'll grow back...but for now, i am gonna except this and be proactive. I bought a short curly bob one. Can't wait to get it. :)

Good for you. I was looking at pieces this weekend. I think I need a fringe from all the prednisone hair loss. Starting 6mp this week so apparently I'll be losing a lot more ;p

I know! The stress of the uc on my body has done a number on me. Prednisone is the biggest factor.

So glad to have a husband who loves me no matter what limits I have.

I'm in the same boat! I had my colon removed in March and hoped it would get better but it hasn't so far. I'm going to see a hair restoration specialist in a week. In the meantime, I've been wearing a wig for about 4 months now. I like having the creativity to wear whatever wig I want, but I miss styling my real hair. A lot.

Being the only one of three brothers who doesn't have a rather handsome forehead, I was a little discouraged to find my hair was rapidly thinning on top during my last stint with prednisone. I asked my PCP if my hair would come back when I got off the pred, and she said “ummmm”.

Well I got off the pred, and the hair loss stopped, and seems to be coming back a little, but ever so slowly. Being male, baldness is not as devastating as it would be for women, but I’ll no longer be able to kid my brothers.

ive had 3.5 yrs of uc, this flaire up is now in its 7th month..........i am also a wig consultant, ive lost only 40% of hair pon prednisalone, i was on it 11 weeks, and doesnt help me what so ever! now i am on azathiaprine and its doing my head in!

I have spent a long time being so upset about losing my hair. I have finally embraced it! I am sick! It may grow back-it may not but I'm gonna take control ofthis aspect of my life and not allow it to upset or drag me down.

I am getting what is called a lace front wig which looks pretty natural (Halle berry wears one). I can't wait!

Remember to make sure you wash your hair as often as possible and not wear the wig when you don't have to.

Once you're off the pred, things should level off and by 3 months you'll see some new growth.

Man I hope I see new growth! That would make my year!!!!!
Although it'll be awhile b/f I'm off the prednisone

Has amnyone ever gone like completely bald with UC and the meds??

If one goes bald from the meds...one could loose a lot or almost all. Pred quickens the dormant/fall out stage....but interestingly, not the hair growth stage.

I have a friend who was on a very high dosage of dexamethasone...she looked like a cherub and I didn't recognise her. Her beautiful long red hair fall out..but she wasn't a cue ball.

I went on prednisone twice and both times my hair sprouted very fast, very thickly. Then as I tapered I lost it, but I think Asacol is a major factor.

It's the one reminder (yay! that's all) that I have a chronic illness -- other than the suppositories, enemas and orals I have to take. I feel very fortunate.

The hair loss thing is tied up with age for me and possibly menopause. I don't like it at all. If I can maintain the hair I have, it's not so bad. I had a lot to begin with.
