I still dont get how folks gain weight on prednisone. Every time I take it I lose 40 lbs in 4 weeks. It failed this time even at 100mg so I chopped it to 50 and was working down around 30 mg when I got the Stroke/Thrombosis which was due to UC/Prednisone/Dehydration. I wont be taking that again. I am on 2.5 this week and then go to zero, even with the blood thinners the slow taper is working - no blood. Hopefully it remains that way.
I think whats helping the most now is not the Librax, the blood thinners changed that but the MEBEVERINE I got from Canada.
UC makes us more likely to get into a hypercoaguable state ( from all the inflammation ) and you should not delay going to the hospital if you ever get a severe headache. I waited 24 hours because of the high deductable/co-pays.
"In summary, our patient presented with symptoms a week before seeking medical attention which led to a marked delay in his diagnosis and hence treatment. The unilateral presentation made the accurate suspicion for the diagnosis more difficult. The rapid progression of intracranial hemorrhage and hemorrhagic nature of the lesion precluded the use of anticoagulant therapy even though CVST was in the differential diagnosis and led to the final fatal outcome within two days of admission."
www.sage-hindawi.com/journals/pri/2010/132754.htmlThere was a Surgeon General PDF on the subject of DVT and he said they know very little about
preventing it other than one study suggesting eating more fruits and vegetables and less red meat - so I am trying to follow Dr Weil's Anti-inflammatory diet.
Staying hydrated is difficult I seem to be drinking gallons of water in order to go 'clear'.
