A match gets 'em pretty good. Just don't light them if you're wearing polyester pants!

My farts do stink at all unless I am bleeding or I try to eat meat.

gas was the first symptom I started getting before I was diagnosed with UC. the two people I shared an appartment and I began to notice a major difference in the odor it was quite literally the worst smelling gas I ever had. After I started bleeding and developed full on symptoms the smell subsided. Avoid powdered ingredients like garlic powder and onion powder its in a lot of chips processed foods it causes me and several other people ive mentioned it to severe gas.

Do you know they even make charcoal inserts for underwear for this very reason? Don't know where to get them though.

If I'm flaring and I eat junk food, it's toxic.
Try to eliminate simple carbs and sugar while you're flaring.

I KNOW
Even D smells horrible. Got to love it. I farted once and my kids were laughing soooo hard because it smelled so bad. So now when they fart they say it still isn't as bad as mom's. At least we laugh about
it.

thanks for the thoughts. I'm not in a flare, but had a mild one mid summer. my symptoms are mainly a feeling of discomfort in the gut, minor dizziness, and feeling tired- possibly from Imuran? No blood, well formed stools, nasty smell. I never thought it was possible, but I can clear an outdoor construction site with one fart! ( powerful eh!)

A couple of weeks ago my farts almost killed me...it was that bad! I realized that all of a sudden I am lactose intolerent, so I have to avoid milk, cheese and yoguart...thankfully, all is well now.
ps.
not sure if UC is the cause or genetics.

Honestly, mine have been consistently toxic since having UC. Whether or not I am flaring, I seem to have a toxic waste dump in my colon, and it sends out regular reminders of it's presence ;) I have learned to just laugh about
it, and joke that I must be eating too many beans lately! My family now makes fart jokes right along with me, and friends expect me to make fart/poop jokes. I just figure that it's already embarrassing, may as well make fun of it a bit :)

Mine were pretty bad before I started eating homemade yogurt daily. Its helped the gas/uc out quite a bit.

I just stopped eating bananas I have become non toxic, now just very stinky! I had eaten at least one a day for months, now I can see through the fog. I hope this helps in the long run. They do make charcoal inserts for underwear, I saw this in Japan, very wierd.

I heard the man who invented the charcoal underwear being invented on the radio a few years ago. The radio announcer thought it was the funniest thing ever and was being very flippant about
it, until the man who invented the underwear explained that his wife had Crohn's and that smelly gas was a real and embarrassing problem for her - the announcer was shocked into seriousness after that.

I became so afraid of errant squirts (back when I had really bad UC), that I now always go to the bathroom if I have to let one rip. Even now, I'll run into the bathroom and take a seat 5-10 times a day just in case. Always air now, but much better than leaving a mess in my pants (or my couch!

Try avoiding gassy food such as broccoli and ice cream. Gas X works for me. Gas could also be a sign of being lactose intolerant.

Hi,
Haven't been here for a while due to my (previously) excellent health during remission.... It's baaaack!!!!!
With a vengence. Speaking of gas. I guess I'm weird. No smell, but jet propulsion like crazy. SO MUCH VOLUME!
So much cramping due to the pressure, and having to do the most outrageous yoga poses to try and expell. i spend half my day up side down.
Don't eat ANY carbs, sugars, or gluten. Anyone else expeience this?
