Daughter's 5th scope done today. 95% Remission !!!

We are beyond thrilled and thankful !!

We're tapering the Prednisone 2.5 mgs at a time.  Tomorrow we start on 27.5 mgs.  Her GI was very happy.  He said we've done some unconventional things that seem to be working.  So we'll keep doing them.

The pictures of her colon looked sooo beautiful.  My husband, my daughter and myself literally said ooooh when he showed us the picture!  Her colon is pink and healthy looking and her mucousa is Normal.  He said Normal.  I almost fell over !!!

Congratulations! It is funny the things we get excited about now, but I can totally relate to your families excitement of seeing a pink healthy colon! So happy for your daughter!

That's great news. Let's hope it stays that way when you drop the dose of prednisone. I was healed 100% at 30mg, even 20mg and 15mg. It gets harder the lower the dose.

Great news!
I hope her experience is like the one my son has had - he was able to taper off the pred with no issues at all and has been in remission with only one minor flare in over 3 years - which was easily solved without pred and he's back to good!
Let's hope the same for Ms. 19 !

Hi..great your daugher is doing better. I find it interesting he'd use the term remission, however, considering she's tapering from a fairly high dosage. Acquiesced might have been better suited, again...considering she's tapering pred early in the game.

I hope all remains well.

What's unconventional about what you've done up to this point?

Is your daughter not able to take any of the 5ASA meds?

It's great all has improved...it gives you both a long, well-deserved break.

 *I think he thinks that anything that we've tried beyond his advice is unconventional.  He knew about the fecal transplants b/c we shared that info with the specialist in NYC and that specialist sent him a letter.   He didn't seem too thrilled that we did that.  He's pretty much" by the book" type of Dr.

** She's currently on Lialda.  She was taking 4 but we went down to 3 a day.  I think it's bothering her stomach and causing abdominal pain.  So I'm trying to slowly lower the dose and see how it goes.
