Well, I finally feel like I've experienced "true" (I know, no such thing exists) IBD. First time that I've ever had 20+ BMs in one day. Those of you that experience this regularly are such troopers!
My apologies, as I know there have been threads on this but I can't seem to locate one: Any remedies for a sore behind?

I prefer a sitz bath (plastic toilet insert you find at pharmacies). You can add several tablespoons of baking soda or Aveeno oatmeal bath (the one that comes in a box containing several packets, intended for full tub soak when you have poison ivy or chicken pox). Both soda and Aveeno are very soothing to raw and irritated skin.
As far as ointment goes, Aquaphor is good. Or some people use diaper rash creams.
I like the sitz bath and then sleeping in a nightgown, sans anything underneath. Air is a good healer too.
Hope you feel better soon.

I agree! Soak, soak, soak in the sitz bath. I like Calmoseptine for a barrier cream too.

Personally I like the Tuck pads. The witch hazel in them help alleviate some of the burn from going so much. I also wipe with them. I found with the creams that if you are going to the bathroom so many times a day that you have to keep reapplying the cream but it can help with that in between period.

I used Tucks after my ostomy reversal surgery. They're very cooling and soothing.
But I still like the soaks in a sitz bath, there's just something so soothing in that sitting position and also by sitting that way, you
open up areas of your bottom that wouldn't be as exposed in a bathtub.

You need to keep your rear end as clean as possible. Bathe often, avoid toilet paper and use baby wipes instead, and use ointments and tucks too.

GYN NP suggested Calmoseptine because I also have a leaky bladder. Really thick and helps to keep from itching/burning, etc.

I use penatane baby diaper rash cream or vitamin e oil and coat my rear end where it burns and is irritated. I also take hot baths with epsomes salt. It always seems to help.

I agree sitzs baths or baths, I like mine with epsom salts. I also sleep without underwear to get air to the area and love calmoseptine. I have tried a few different creams, diaper creams, skin creams, hemmie cream and for me calmoseptine has been by far the best. It really helped soothe and heal my behind! My walgreens has it OTC but behind the counter.
