Fleshy-looking stool?

Has anyone had bits of stool that look like fleshy pieces or blood clots? I'm assuming it's just mucous mixed with blood but I really have no idea. I mentioned it in my GI appt yesterday but I don't think the info was passed on to my GI (a resident spent most of the appt with me).

Anyone had something similar to this?

I have the same thing and it is generally at the beginning of a bowel movement and then followed by a semi-solid stool. If it wasn't for these blood clot looking mucous pieces I would think I was in remission (basically my only symptom at the moment). I believe these will go away once the flare is completely under control.

Yes, I've had this. And you're right, usually it's mucous tinged with the color of the stool and blood. Are you on rectal meds at the moment? Are you flaring?

Obviously flaring I'd say...and I get it when I'm flaring.

Oh yes, been in a flare since March. I also had it when I was on Canasa suppositories, which I've recently stopped because they weren't helping. Just bumped up Lialda to 4 pills a day from 2, so hopefully that helps.

If the Canasa didn't help, consider the retention enemas..either the mesalamine or the steroid. Don't stop using the enemas.

I have had the exact same thing happen many times....that is how I first noticed I was having problems.  I decribed it to the doctor as it looked like blood tinged pieces of bread..LOL.  I know that is weird, but that it what it looked like to me and at the time I knew nothing about UC.

I had long thin pieces come out of my over a foot long, I think it was flesh as it held together when I literal took it out of the bowl to examine it. Unless mucus can become solid like. Doing a search I found another person who actually took a picture of the exact same thing, they thought it was a worm.

Not sure. I've gotten blood clots. They appear think and solid, but you can swish them and they become pure blood.
