only Probiotics have been shown to help UC. No other supplement has done so This statement is not true. Yes there are a variety of probiotic strains proven to be effective for IBD. But there have also been very credible double-blind studies performed that show that some supplements such as boswellia, turmeric, and powdered psyllium seed are just as effective as mesalamine in maintaining remission from IBD.
We are on our own tracking down these studies that are mostly conducted in Europe by reputable research firms and not just trust everything you see on the Internet. Some web sites, such as WebMD, are propaganda outlets for Big Pharma.
I am not saying that herbs work for everyone anymore than specific meds work for everyone. But they do work for me and research has proven that they are just as effective as conventional meds.
